Lefkada Chamber invited residents to gather in Agios Minas Square at 11:00 on Saturday, 24 October 2026, for its “Together for Prevention” women’s health awareness initiative. The meeting point was the statue of the doctor Xenophon Grigoris. The invitation was open to everyone.

The Chamber published the notice on 23 October 2026. Its poster gives a meeting place and time, but does not announce mammograms or other medical examinations at the square. Residents looking for screening can use a separate service: Greece’s national Fofi Gennimata programme for women’s health screening.

The Chamber has organised similar prevention work before. On 3 and 4 April 2019, with Chamber sponsorship, the Hellenic Cancer Society’s mobile mammography unit offered free screening in Lefkada town and at the port of Vasiliki. For 2 and 3 June 2022 the Chamber announced another visit of the unit, at Vasiliki beach and at Vathy on Meganisi. Chamber notices and programmes appear on its official homepage.

Free screening has its own booking route

The official programme guidance covers women aged 45 to 74 who have an AMKA social-security number, whether insured or uninsured. It excludes women who have had digital mammography in the previous 21 months or breast cancer in the previous five years. The programme does not replace clinical follow-up by a woman’s own doctor.

Eligible women who have activated Greece’s paperless prescription and referral notification service (άυλη συνταγογράφηση) receive their referral by text message or email. They can use it to book with a participating public or private examination centre. Those who have not activated the paperless service can book with a participating centre using their AMKA number. The official website provides a directory of centres; participation should be checked before arranging an appointment.

Screening booking steps: eligible women can use the SMS or email referral if paperless prescription/referral notifications are activated, or book using AMKA if they are not.
Booking screening is separate from attending the 24 October 2026 gathering. Graphic: Othisis, based on the official programme instructions and eligibility rules.

The programme provides free digital mammography and, where a finding needs further investigation, breast ultrasound. Its booking instructions give mammography referrals a validity of six months from issue. The programme’s information line is 11401.
